Embracing Education: A Homeschooling Journey with Nature and Faith

This journey isn’t one you walk alone.

If you’ve felt the nudge to homeschool but find yourself wondering if you’re really equipped, you’re not alone. I’ve stood at that same edge—equal parts eager and uncertain—asking the Lord if I could really do this.

But here’s the truth: you don’t have to be ready. You just have to be willing.

Because this journey isn’t one you walk alone.

Trusting the One Who Calls

Homeschooling is not just an educational decision—it’s a step of faith. It requires leaning on the Lord in ways you never expected. There will be good days, hard days, and days where you question it all. But God is faithful. He doesn’t call us to a path and leave us stranded. He walks with us, teaches us, and carries us—especially on the days when we feel small.

“The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.”
— Psalm 145:13b (NIV)

When you place your child’s education in His hands, you’re not walking away from something—you’re walking toward Him.

Learning in God’s Creation

One of the greatest gifts of homeschooling is the freedom to slow down and notice the world around us. Nature becomes the classroom. A walk in the woods turns into a lesson in science, art, and worship all at once.

I’ve watched my children flourish outside. I’ve seen attitudes soften, curiosity awaken, and their hearts open wide as they spend time under the sky God painted. When we study creation, we’re studying the Creator.

There’s something deeply healing about learning in nature. It brings rest, joy, and a kind of holy stillness that traditional classrooms can’t always offer.

You’re Not Alone

There are so many wonderful resources and communities waiting to welcome you. From local co-ops and field trip groups to online curriculum guides and faith-based support circles—you will find your people. You’ll find moms who are walking this same path, ready to cheer you on, lend a book, or pray with you after a hard week.

Ask questions. Seek connection. You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Take the Leap

If the idea of homeschooling feels overwhelming—start small. Read together. Take walks. Talk about what you see, what you wonder, and what God might be teaching you through it all. Learning can be gentle. It can be joyful. It can look different every day.

And if you’ve been waiting for a sign, consider this it:
You can do this. Not because it’s easy, but because you are not doing it in your own strength.

A beautiful Scripture that perfectly supports this message of trusting God in the homeschooling journey—especially when stepping out in faith—is:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)

This verse reminds us that even when we don’t feel fully prepared or qualified, God is already ahead of us—clearing the path, guiding our steps, and faithfully carrying us as we follow His lead.

Have faith.
Step out.
And don’t forget to step outside.

There is beauty ahead.

With grace and growing confidence,
Aimee
